“Urban design is the newest subject to grab the attention of Silicon Valley and China tech, as they rethink neighbourhoods and civic life for a hyper-connected future. From Alibaba’s City Brain to Alphabet’s Sidewalk Labs, technology companies are rushing to show us how technology could be used to make cities less congested, more liveable and safer.” [1]
Technology and data as key drivers for urban design allow for once utopian solutions to be now possible, but also for dystopian scenarios to arise.

What does the future city look like? What are the benefits? And risks? What about data privacy and surveillance at an urban scale? How does technology and data contribute to a city’s liveability status? Could technology and data allow for hyper-regions to emerge as leading markets at a global scale?

Join us in conversation with Jessica Christiansen-Franks, Co-founder and CEO of Neighbourlytics; urban designer and social entrepreneur who has dedicated her career to understanding the social dynamics of urbanisation.
