The First Law of Thermodynamics states that energy cannot be created or destroyed – it is always conserved. It follows that energy can be transformed from one state into another.

Spirituality speaks in terms of a “world without end”.

In 1907 Dr Duncan McDougall conducted an experiment on patients dying from Cholera. He weighed them at point of death to find they lost 21grams. Is this the weight of consciousness? Of the soul? The results have not been repeated. The test group was six.

At about the same time Einstein discovered the equation E = mc²which proved that the total amount of mass and energy in the universe is constant.
